For Moroccans living in the US: the logistics layer, with sources cited.

Tickets — only buy from FIFA

FIFA Last-Minute Sales Phase is live (started April 1, 2026). This is NOT a lottery — first-come, first-served, real-time confirmation. Earlier rounds (Visa Presale, Early Draw, Random Selection) are closed; primary inventory is at an "all-time low," and Brazil-Morocco is one of the top-3 most-requested matches in the world.

  • Where: fifa.com/tickets — the only official portal.
  • Mobile-only: All 2026 tickets are mobile, delivered via the FIFA app. Anyone selling paper tickets, screenshots, or PDFs is a scammer.
  • Personalized: Each ticket carries the buyer's name. Limit: 60 total per FIFA ID, max 6 per match per household.
  • Price range: Group-stage face value historically ~$60 (Cat. 4) to $1,000+ (Cat. 1/Premium). Brazil-Morocco at the high end of group-stage demand.
  • Team Specific Ticket Series (TST): Bundle of all three Morocco group games. Mostly allocated in earlier draws — check availability.
  • FIFA Hospitality: Premium packages via On Location (the EXCLUSIVE hospitality provider) at fifaworldcup26.hospitality.fifa.com.
Resale: only the FIFA Resale Marketplace is authorized. FIFA reserves the right to void any ticket detected on unauthorized resale at the gate, with no refund. StubHub, SeatGeek, Vivid Seats, Viagogo, Ticombo are NOT FIFA-authorized. StubHub's "FanProtect" refunds the transaction but doesn't cover FIFA voiding the ticket itself at the turnstile.

If your ticket fails to scan

  • Go immediately to Ticket Resolution Points near entry gates or the Stadium Ticket Office. NOT back to your hotel.
  • Force-close + reopen the FIFA app; check email for transfer/relink notices.
  • Download tickets to your wallet beforehand. Have phone signal at the gate.
  • Screenshots and printouts are NOT accepted.

Scam alert — 4,300+ fake FIFA domains

4,300+ fake FIFA-branded domains have been registered since August 2025. Fraud kits with pre-built fake portals are sold on the dark web. Voice cloning is now used to mimic FIFA support. Telegram, WhatsApp, and X are the dominant scam channels.

Red flags:

  • Anyone offering tickets via Telegram DMs, Twitter DMs, "I have a friend at FIFA" — walk away.
  • Anyone insisting on Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, wire transfer, or crypto for tickets — scammer. Real FIFA only accepts credit/debit through the official portal.
  • Domains with "fifa-tickets-24.com" / "wc26-official.com" / "fifaworldcup-2026.org" style typos — fake.
  • Anyone claiming to sell "paper tickets" or PDFs — scammer. 2026 is mobile-only.
Global Moroccans does not sell tickets. We don't broker, escrow, or facilitate ticket sales between members. If anyone claims to be selling tickets "through GM," it's not us. Always go directly to fifa.com/tickets.

Flights — RAM is your direct option

Royal Air Maroc is the only carrier with non-stop flights from Morocco to most US cities. Verified summer 2026 schedule:

  • JFK (New York): double daily (only nonstop CMN-JFK)
  • YUL (Montréal): double daily
  • IAD (Washington Dulles): daily
  • MIA (Miami): 3× weekly
  • YYZ (Toronto): 3× weekly
  • LAX (Los Angeles): NEW from Jun 7, 2026 — debuts days before the tournament

Approximate fares: CMN-JFK economy from ~$606-$874 normally; for tournament dates expect 2-3× normal. JFK to CMN was ~$666 in late May 2026 but climbs around match windows. Source: Simple Flying.

Inter-US flights (between match cities)

  • NYC ↔ Boston (Jun 13 → 19): JetBlue ~50 nonstops/week JFK-BOS; expect $200-$400 in WC window. Or Amtrak Acela ($150-$300, 3.5h city center to city center). Or Megabus / FlixBus ($20-70, 4.5h, no security).
  • Boston ↔ Atlanta (Jun 19 → 24): Fly only — Delta dominates (78/wk), JetBlue 23/wk, Spirit cheapest. Expect $200-$500. Surface trip is 16h drive / 30h Amtrak via DC — not realistic.

Hotels & lodging

Surge data: Atlanta hotels surged 344%. Houston 457%. Kansas City 364%. NJ/MetLife rooms once $300 are listed at $1,500+/night. BUT: as of late April 2026, demand is softer than expected — Boston, Dallas, NY, Philadelphia rates have dropped ~20% from peak. Patient bookers benefit. (Business Traveller)

Booking strategies

  • Booking.com / Expedia / Hotels.com: screenshot the rate page. "Free cancellation until Jun 5" sometimes hides full charge after.
  • HotelTonight, Hotwire, Priceline: shine 4-10 days out for last-minute. In a sold-out market, less reliable.
  • VRBO / Airbnb / Vacasa: best for groups of 6-10+. A 2-night Airbnb near Gillette averaged $3,044 in the Scotland match window.
  • Marriott Bonvoy = FIFA's Official Hotel Supporter. Award nights at WC-area hotels expected at 50-75K points/night for mid-tier. Points Guy guide.
  • Hostels for solo travelers: HI NYC ($70-150), HI Boston ($80-180), HI Atlanta — all sub-$200 even WC week.

Per host city — where to stay

  • NJ/NY (MetLife): Stay in Secaucus, Jersey City, Hoboken, Newark/Elizabeth — NJ Transit-connected to Secaucus Junction (the WC rail gateway). Manhattan works but pay 2-3×. AVOID deep Long Island, Bronx, far Brooklyn — tough back to Penn Station.
  • Boston (Gillette): Stay in Downtown Boston / Back Bay / South End for South Station train access. Or Quincy, Providence RI (Boston Stadium Express bus stops there, 25 min by car). Foxborough has zero hotels.
  • Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz): Midtown (MARTA, Piedmont Park, balanced safety) or Buckhead (upscale, Lenox MARTA). Old Fourth Ward / Inman Park for BeltLine vibes. Midtown Blue (40+ off-duty APD) patrols 24/7. AVOID far west of stadium or south of I-20 unless you have a car.
Halal-friendly hotels: US hotels rarely advertise halal — most accommodate on request. NYC hotels are generally Muslim-aware (NYC ~9% Muslim). Properties known to be halal-friendly: The Marmara Manhattan, Renaissance NY Midtown. Filter on HalalBooking.com or CrescentRating. For Boston/Atlanta: call ahead and ask for prayer mat + turkey-bacon-instead-of-pork breakfast.

Visa for visiting family

Morocco is NOT in the US Visa Waiver Program. Moroccan passport holders need a B1/B2 tourist visa to enter the US. (Citizens of France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain and ~40 other VWP countries can use ESTA — $21, valid 2 years, ~72h approval.)

Wait times in Casablanca/Rabat: dropped from ~10 months to ~2 months thanks to expanded consulate staffing. As of late 2025, Casablanca added staff specifically for WC demand. Even at 2 months, applying May 2 is cutting it tight for Jun 13 — especially if administrative processing (221(g)) hits. Anyone without a visa now is unlikely to make Jun 13.

FIFA PASS — priority appointments

  • FIFA PASS = free, voluntary tool that gives WC ticket holders priority access to B1/B2 interview appointments. NOT the visa itself.
  • No guarantee of issuance, no expedited final decision, no entry promise — just an interview slot.
  • Eligibility: must have purchased ticket directly from FIFA (resale doesn't qualify) and opted in.
  • More: state.gov FIFA visa page.

Customs — what NOT to bring from Morocco

  • Prohibited: all meats and meat products (yes, including khlea and merguez); fresh/dried/frozen fruits and vegetables; home-canned goods; date palm fronds.
  • Generally OK: argan oil, commercially packaged dates (declared!), sealed olives, spices, ras el hanout, commercially canned products, coffee, tea.
  • Always declare — failing to declare = up to $1,000 first-offense fine.
  • Tell the aunties: homemade msemen WILL be confiscated and the bag torn open. Save the heartbreak.

Money + Tipping

Currency & cards

  • MAD → USD: ~9.36 MAD = $1 USD as of May 2026.
  • US is a card country. Apple Pay / Google Pay accepted virtually everywhere — no tap limit (unlike Europe).
  • ATM fees $3-7 per withdrawal + your Moroccan bank's foreign fee. Pull larger amounts once.
  • No-FX-fee credit cards: Capital One Venture, Chase Sapphire, Schwab debit. AVOID Moroccan cards in US ATMs except emergency.
  • Money transfer: Wise (best rate), Remitly (cheapest in 64% of comparisons for USD→MAD), Western Union (ubiquitous physical pickup).

Tipping (US norms)

  • Sit-down restaurants: 18-20% pre-tax minimum. Fine dining 20-25%.
  • Counter / coffee: $1-2.
  • Taxi / Uber / Lyft: 15-20% or minimum $2-3.
  • Hotel housekeeping: $2-5 per night, on the pillow each morning.
  • Why so high: in 43 US states, restaurant servers earn below minimum wage by law — tips ARE the wage.

What the consulate CAN do vs. CAN'T

  • Can: issue Laissez-passer (one-way emergency to Morocco); replace passport; assist with arrest/death; provide list of attorneys.
  • Cannot: pay your medical bills, bail you out, get you out of US legal trouble, replace your visa stamp, fly you home for free.

Travel insurance — do not skip

  • A single ER visit in the US runs $2,000-$10,000 uninsured. Major surgery $50,000+.
  • Your CNSS / Moroccan private health insurance does not cover the US.
  • Recommended providers for non-US visitors: Visitor Guard, IMG Global, American Visitor Insurance, Insubuy. Several rolled out specific WC 2026 plans.
  • Essential coverages: medical $100k+, emergency evacuation $250k+, trip cancellation, baggage.

Lost passport flow

  1. File police report at nearest precinct (you'll need it for both insurance and the consulate).
  2. Contact Consulate NY or Embassy DC by phone — closed weekends.
  3. Apply in person for a new biometric passport OR request a Laissez-passer if you need to fly home immediately (LP gets you to Morocco only, not onward US travel).
  4. Notify your airline — RAM and Delta can sometimes hold your booking.
